Lidl to open in Pinecrest Plaza in September

Lidl is opening in the former Staples spot in Pinecrest Plaza.

The Lidl grocery store under construction in Pinecrest Plaza on Little River Turnpike is expected to open at some point in the first half of September.

The German-based Lidl discount supermarket chain has 100 stores in the United States. A Lidl store opened in Springfield in February, and the company announced plans in December to take over a former Shoppers in Burke.

Lidl is hiring staff for the Pinecrest Plaza store, including store supervisors (paying $18.50 an hour) and store associates ($14 an hour).
Edens, the owner of Pinecrest Plaza, is completing a renovation of the shopping center, including new facades, new LED lighting, new sidewalks, and a new parking lot layout. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
Pinecrest Plaza is getting a makeover.

  1. Happy to hear. But sure would like a high end amenity filled grocery store here in Annandale too.

  2. Lidl is a great chain with some unusual European products and fresh baked goods including great cookies and croissants. It will be a welcome addition to the area. A Wegmans would also be a wonderful addition but that does not appear to be in the cards yet. Believe me, you will enjoy Lidl, with its slightly European flair.
