Lions Club sells citrus fruit to support charities

The Annandale-Falls Church Lions Club will be selling citrus and other fruit from a truck Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Annandale Swim and Tennis Club, 7530 Little River Turnpike.

The sale starts at 8:15 a.m. and will continue until everything is sold. Look for the Craig moving van in the parking lot.

All of the citrus fruit comes from Florida. The Lions are selling ruby red grapefruit, navel organizes, sunburst tangerines, juice oranges, red delicious apples, and D’Anjou pears. A case is $45, half a case is $25, and a quarter of a case is $16.

They’ve also got strawberries (one 1-pound carton for $4, two cartons for $7), the “Annandale Lions Club’s famous bean soup mix (1-pound bag for $5), and White House ornaments ($23).

The Lions Club has been holding these sales for about 30 years, says Bill Montes de Oca, the club’s fruit sale coordinator.

All of the proceeds from the sale will support sight and hearing screening and glasses and hearing aids for children.
