Little League is raising funds for a restroom project at Pine Ridge Park
The Fairfax County Park Authority has approved the installation of a permanent structure to house restrooms and a concession stand at Pine Ridge Park in Annandale, a project sought by the Annandale-North Springfield Little League.
To make this project a reality, however, the ANSLL has to raise approximately $300,000, says the league’s president, Don Pedersen.
The Fairfax County Park Authority’s Parks Planning Department told ANSLL the restroom/concession stand project will be considered for the 2020 parks bond but would not be their highest priority. And even if the project does get on the bond, funding would not be available for another two years and the bond would only fund about half of the funding for the project.
However, if ANSLL is able to raise the money, the county would allow the league to build the structure and the county would maintain it.
“The restroom situation at Pine Ridge is less than ideal, to say the least,” says Pedersen. “The port-a-johns are neither sufficient to handle the volume of a spring or fall baseball season nor are they maintained frequently enough. Additionally, not having a permanent concession stand makes it much more challenging to provide food and drinks to our families and guests at the field.”
He encourages members of the public, as well as ANSLL parents, to make a tax-deductible donation to support this project. Donations can be made online here.
