Local events scheduled in remembrance of 9/11 attacks

Here are some ceremonies scheduled in Northern Virginia in remembrance of the 9/11 terrorist attacks:

Friday, Sept. 9—The City of Alexandria is hosting a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony honoring first responders, with remarks by Alexandria Mayor William Euille and other city officials and a bell-ringing ceremony—Market Square, 301 King St., 12-1 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 10—Arlington County’s 9/11 Tribute Event to remember the 184 lives lost in the terrorist attack on the Pentagon features the U.S. Air Force Band Brass Quintet Ensemble and other musical performances—Air Force Memorial overlooking the Pentagon, 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 11—The Arlington Historical Society’s 9/11 ceremony will include a bell-ringing honoring the victims of the Pentagon attack–Hume School, 1805 South Arlington Ridge Road, 9:37 a.m.

Sunday, Sept. 11—American Legion Post 180, in cooperation with the town of Vienna, is holding “A Day to Remember” community event—Freeman House, 131 Church Street, N.E., Vienna, 10 a.m.

Sunday, Sept. 11— Fairfax County hosts a 9/11 10th anniversary Remembrance Ceremony—Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, followed by a procession to the 9/11 Memorial Grove, 2-3 p.m., plan to arrive by 1:45 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 11—The NoVA Lights Chorale presents a free concert, “The World Sings for Peace,” in remembrance of all those lost and affected by 9/11—Arlington Presbyterian Church, 3507 Columbia Pike, Arlington, 4 p.m.
