‘Lord and Lady Fairfax’ honorees recognized for community service

Aminoff

Daniel Aminoff and Rose Chu will represent Mason District as Lord and Lady Fairfax, respectively. Mason Supervisor Penny Gross announced the honorees in her June 1 A Penny for Your Thoughts” column in the Falls Church News-Press.

Aminoff has served on the Mason District Land Use Committee since 2004 and has chaired the committee since 2013.

He represents Mason District on the Fairfax County Public Schools’ Facilities Planning Advisory Committee, serves as a lay representative to the Virginia State Bar Association’s Committee on Lawyer Discipline, and is a member of the boards of the Landmark Mews HOA and Holmes Middle School PTA.

Chu

Chu is vice chair of the county’s Health Care Advisory Board, helps people enroll for health insurance as a Certified Application Counselor through Northern Virginia Family Services, and is a founder and current secretary of the Coalition of Asian Pacific Americans of Virginia.

She helps people file taxes as an AARP Tax-Aide volunteer and works at community events as a volunteer to register voters and educate new Americans about their civic responsibilities.

Each member of the Board of Supervisors annually selects residents with a strong record of community service to serve as a Lord and Lady Fairfax.

The honorees will be recognized at the June 6 Board of Supervisors meeting and at a luncheon on June 17 during the celebration of Fairfax County’s 275th anniversary at the historic courthouse in Fairfax.

The program honoring volunteers reflects the beginnings of Fairfax County, which is named for The Right Honorable Thomas, Sixth Lord Fairfax, who received a land grant from King Charles II.
