Lost dog found after a three-week search

Rosie the dog who went missing Sept. 24 is home safe and sound.

Annandale residents Sarah and Bob Turner, who’d been frantically looking for their German Collie/Shepherd mix for nearly three weeks, report, “she was eventually spotted by teachers and students at Weyanoke Elementary School and Thomas Jefferson High School. Animal Control officers tried to capture her, but she would not let anyone get near her. Finally, a wonderful volunteer from Virginia German Shepherd Rescue came with her very friendly dog, and Rosie went up to them. Brilliant.”

“Rosie came home 10 pounds lighter and covered in ticks, but is as joyful and lovable as ever and is already starting to recover from her ordeal,” the Turners say. They are deeply grateful for the community-wide effort to get the word out about their lost dog and joined in the search.

  1. I saw her at Backlick Park about 2 weeks ago and ran after her with a leash rattling a treat jar but I could not catch up with her; she vanished into the woods. The Lost Dog signs didn't appear for an other week. I'm so glad she's safely home! Be sure she has a microchip & id tags for the future, & flea/tick repellent 🙂
