Man arrested after bomb threat at Starbucks

Fairfax County Police arrested a man at the Starbucks at 8104 Arlington Blvd., in Merrifield, after he allegedly made a bomb threat at about 3:45 p.m. on Nov. 3.

A tweet from FCPS said officers were on the scene and believe the man who made the threat was still inside. The Yorktown Shopping Center was evacuated as the FCPD sent in a crisis negotiation team.

FCPD tweeted later that “the individual is now in custody” and urged people to avoid the area, as explosive ordinance disposal officers were at the scene evaluating a backpack. Shortly before 9 p.m., the police announced “nothing suspicious was found in the backpack.”

According to a report on Fox5, the police were called to the Starbucks after an intoxicated man refused to leave and said he had a bomb in his backpack.

  1. Ah, that's why I couldn't go to Elephant Jumps. Went to Thai by Thai instead in Dunn Loring, and it was terrible.
