Man arrested for bank robbery
Canavan [FCPD] |
Fairfax County Police arrested a suspect in the robbery of a Wells Fargo Bank Aug. 9 at 2903 Gallows Road across from the Mosaic District in Merrifield. David Canavan, 53, of Vienna, was charged with robbery and is being held without bond at the Adult Detention Center.
According the FCPD and FBI Washington Field Office Violent Crimes Task Force, Canavan is believed to the same person responsible for robberies at a TD Bank at 6198 Arlington Blvd., in Seven Corners July 5 and a BB&T Bank at 8416 Arlington Blvd. near Javier Road on June 1.
All three incidents involved a suspicious package requiring an investigation by the FCPD Explosives Ordance Disposal Unit. The Seven Corners incident led to a huge traffic jam, as police blocked Route 50 during rush hour.
