Man arrested for church burglaries
Fairfax County police arrested a man for burglarizing seven churches throughout the county between April and August.
Two of the churches are in Annandale. Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 8922 Little River Turnpike was burglarized on Aug. 1, and Calvary Church of the Nazarene at 8220 Little River Turnpike was hit on Aug. 5.
During the investigation of the Aug. 5 incident, detectives identified Steven Hildner, 56, of Sterling as the suspect.
A search warrant was executed at Hildner’s residence in Loudoun County with the assistance of the Leesburg Police Department.
Police collected evidence that connected Hildner to burglaries at other churches in Burke, Fairfax Station, Chantilly, and Oakton.
Hildner was arrested on Aug. 13. He was charged with five counts of burglary, two counts of grand larceny, and petit larceny. He is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
No bond?! First time I’ve seen that. Wonder why…
Because it got a lot of publicity, I imagine.
