Man battles police during shoplifting arrest

A shoplifting incident at the Target on Arlington Boulevard in Seven Corners March 16 led to the arrest of Raheel Aijaz, 26, of Manassas, the Fairfax County Police Department reports.

Police had arrived shortly before 4:30 p.m. and attempted to detain a man suspected of shoplifting. The suspect became combative and tried to take the officer’s firearm and baton.

Aijaz was charged with grand larceny, attempted disarming of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and possession of marijuana,
