Man dies from injuries in pedestrian crash
A man injured in a pedestrian crash last month in Seven Corners was pronounced deceased on Oct. 13.
Detectives from the Fairfax County Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit determined that Glen Simmons, 57, walked into the southbound lanes of Patrick Henry Drive near Arlington Boulevard at about 8 p.m. on Sept. 24 when he was struck by a Kia Forte. Simmons was not in a crosswalk.
Simmons was transported to the hospital in non-life-threatening condition. On Sunday, he was pronounced deceased from injuries sustained in the crash.
Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors for the driver and are under investigation for the pedestrian, the FCPD states. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still being investigated.
condolences to his family. At the same time I’ve seen lots of close calls with people almost getting struck by a vehicle for not using the crosswalk and this just shows the dangerous consequences that will happen if we don’t follow street rules.
He was transported to the hospital with NON life threatening injuries, but was in the hospital for several days and died as a result of this injuries. Too bad he didn’t receive a better diagnosis of those injuries when he came in. I’d like an explanation of how non life threatening injuries killed him.
