Man injured in Annandale frame shop fire

A fire at the Annandale Art Gallery, a framing shop at 7261 Maple Place in Annandale, Dec. 19 sent one man to the Washington Hospital Center and caused extensive damage to paintings, the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department reports. The injury was not life threatening.
Firefighters responded at approximately 9:50 a.m., encountered smoke and fire on the first floor and were able to bring the fire under control within minutes. The cause of the fire was determined to be a malfunction of a fan in the stove hood system. Fire investigators said the fire was caused by a malfunctioning fan in the stove hood system. A monetary estimate of damages hasn’t been determined yet.
The shop had just relocated to that building a few months ago from 7121 Columbia Pike, where it was known as Annandale Art & Frame. The owner, John Shin, says it will be three or four months before the shop can reopen, if it reopens at all. The basement and top floors of the house are used as residences.

That's our Annandale — it's clueless and codeless.
I did not know you could have people living in a commercial building unless it was zoned for both. I doubt this is the case.
Thank you Penny Gross again, for creating the demise of Annandale. Just keep posing for those photos and ignoring all of the code violations that make this community so much less than when you arrived.

Yeah, because you know the specific circumstances about this particular building and have memorized the code by heart, right?
Not saying it's definitely in compliance but we have this concept maybe you've heard of, "innocent until proven guilty"? I also like the the one that goes "if you don't know what you're talking about, keep your mouth (keyboard) shut."
