“Jaco

The
show on Saturday morning, Aug. 3, offered something completely different: family-friendly entertainment
from Milkshake, a duo from Baltimore. This video clip is from their number, “It’s
Breakfast Time,” which is more about jokes and audience interaction than music:
The video features the TOAST Big Band’s rendition of “Route 66” performed on Aug.

“I
found it ironic that this American classic about the iconic highway through the
heartland was sung here by Angus Mackay, an Australian” (who now lives in Falls Church), said Kovacs.
According
to Kovacs, “The song evokes a time when the world admired and was even a little
jealous of America, with its freedoms, wide open spaces and its car culture
with highways that stretched from Chicago to Los Angeles; it’s all very exotic to someone who just hears
these names in the movies.” McKay is also in a rockabilly/western swing
bang called Hang-Over Royale, which played at Mason District Park Aug 7.
