Mason District Fall Festival this Saturday
Looking for something fun to do this weekend? The Mason District Fall Festival is happening Saturday, Sept. 24, in Mason District Park, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
There will be live entertainment, food and craft vendors, police and fire department demonstrations, and children’s activities, including moon bounces, hay rides, and pony rides. The festival is free, but you’ll need to purchase tickets for the rides.
Here’s the lineup for the entertainment:
10 a.m.—DinoRock, a puppet show featuring wacky characters from the Mesozoic Era, including the thick-headed Pachycephalosaurus; Lumpy and his son Bumpy; and Wuzzy, the T-Rex toddler with feathers.
11 a.m.—Hui O Ka Pua `Ilima performs dance and music from Hawaii, New Zealand, and Tahiti.
12:15 p.m.—Chin Hamaya Culture Center performs dance and music from Okinawa, including the dragon and lion dance.
1:15 p.m.—The Fairfax Swing Band plays music in the tradition of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, and other big bands of the 1940s.
2:15 p.m.—The Reunion Music Society Jazz Orchestra, led by NOVA professor of jazz studies Herb Smith, performs music from Duke Ellington, Charlie Bird, Miles Davis, and other jazz greats, along with songs from Broadway shows.
Mason District Park is located at 6621 Columbia Pike in Annandale.
