The Mason District Little League had its moment in the sun Aug. 14 when the league was honored at a Washington Nationals major league baseball game. MDLL members stood with Nationals players during the National Anthem and
held the rope at the start of the halftime Presidents Race.

Benji Loeffler (above), a member of the team sponsored by the Annandale Blog, got to throw out the first pitch. Screech, the Nationals mascot, then picked him and carried him off the field upside down.

MDLL was selected for the honor by the Nationals Dream Foundation, which has also promised to renovate a baseball field used by the league.
