Mason District Little League to be honored at Nationals game

The Mason District Little League is being honored by the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation.

As part of the foundation’s investment in local Little Leagues, it announced plans to renovate a field used by MDLL  Most likely it will be Parklawn field, but details haven’t been finalized.

This Sunday, Aug. 14, designated as “Nationals Dream Foundation Day,” MDLL player Benji Loeffler will throw out the opening pitch as Washington’s Major League baseball team squares off against the Atlanta Braves at Nationals Park.

Six MDLL players – Blake Brown, Jack Cooke, Tyler Foti, Garrett Musick, Finn Sample, and A.J. Tovares – and six players from Capitol Hill Little League will stand by Nats players during the National Anthem. Those players and their families have been given free tickets to the game.

“We were thrilled when the foundation reached out to us,” says MDLL President Ted Loeffler.

By the way, the MDLL team sponsored by the Annandale Blog this year, also called the Nationals, had a very good season, Loeffler reports. The team come in second in the league’s Triple A division.
