Men arrested for burglary, reckless driving

Two men were arrested for burglary shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 14 in the 8300 block of Anderson Drive near Inova Fairfax Hospital.
Someone saw a man break into a building and notified police, the Fairfax County Police Department reports. Officers found Anthony Daens, 21, of Annandale, inside the fenced area by a pool in the Amberleigh community. He was using a police scanner app to monitor police communications.
Officers searched the building and found Gelsy Ely Serrano Ortega, 22, of Falls Church, in the building.
Daens was charged with burglary and use of a police radio during commission of a crime. Serrano Ortega was charged with trespassing and being drunk in public.
Daniel Nunez Mendoza, 21, of Annandale, was arrested on Oct. 12 and charged with disregarding a police command to stop, reckless driving, hit and run, improper registration, and driving on a suspended license.
The incident happened at about 9:15 p.m. at Commons Drive/Rectory Lane in Annandale. An officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a man driving a black 2008 Volkswagen and speeding in a neighborhood. The driver failed to stop, and a short pursuit ensued. The man then ran on foot and his car rolled back into the officer’s cruiser causing damage.
