Mexican restaurant opens in Annandale
There’s a new restaurant – Baja Bistro Fresh Mex Grille – in the Bradlick Shopping Center in Annandale, and it’s owned by local residents, Youness and Kristina Boukhlifi of Edsall Park.
It’s a “quick-service, casual restaurant,” says Kristina, and “everything is made fresh in house.” That includes the guacamole and salsa, ranging from medium to super hot.

The menu features burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and nachos, with chicken, steak, ground beef, shrimp, fish, or chorizos, plus a tofu option for vegetarians. Future plans call for margaritas, beer, and wine.
Baja Bistro, in the spot formerly occupied by Flame N’Grill, had a soft opening Feb. 24 and will have a grand opening after it gets a liquor license.
Youness has extensive experience in the restaurant business – he works at Marcel’s in Washington, D.C. – and opened a Baja Bistro franchise because he always wanted to own his own place, Kristina says. “This is his dream come true. This is his baby.”
Both Youness and Kristina have full-time jobs, and they have two daughters, age 4 and 2, so they decided a franchise, like Baja Bistro, would be a little easier to manage than starting from scratch.
Baja Bistro is open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-7 p.m. on Sunday.
Always looking for another good Mexican Restaurant! Gonna try it this week end!
Went today…meh. Fresh but no Mexican there, more like AmeriMex.
As the article says, it is a casual eatery, not a "Mexican Restaurant". I will never understand why people would go to Chipotle or Taco Bell over a place like this for quick good food. The food is fresh and the portions are significant. You could easily feed 2 to 3 children on the tacos (you get three large tacos in your order, and each one can be different, e.g. one chicken, one beef, one fish), so the cost is very reasonable. We ate there last week and found the food to be fresh, tasty, and the service friendly. Come out and support your neighbors folks!
Thanks again, Ellie, for your fine reporting! (And no, I'm not secretly your mother…)
I remember a "Taco Del Mar" was at this exact same location a few years ago.
The food is much better than what was at the "Taco Del Mar".
Thanks. I'll have to go and try it on Tuesday. I hope it on par with SoCal tacos, miss those.
My husband and I went there last night and were very pleased. As stated, the ingredients are fresh, fresh, fresh and portions substantial. We'll definitely go back – especially once you can get a beer with your meal. : )
