Missing teen could be in danger
[Story updated, see below] Fairfax County Police detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 17-year-old, Venus Lorena Romero Iraheta, 17, of Beauregard Street in Alexandria.
Venus left her home voluntarily on Jan. 15, with a black and red backpack full of clothes. Her mother reported her missing that day and Venus was entered into the National Crime Information Center database. Due to recent developments in several ongoing investigations, detectives now believe Venus might be endangered.
UPDATED Feb. 14, 10:19 p.m.: Venus returned home at about 9 p.m. while a local TV news crew was interviewing her mother, FCPD reports. On Feb. 15, FCPD tweeted this: “Venus Ireheta is in
custody. “Due to her age, we are prohibited by law about revealing whether
she’s facing any criminal charges.”
from WTOP, Iraheta’s boyfriend, Christian Alexander Sosa Rivas, 21, of Fairfax
was murdered last month, and his body was discovered along the Potomac River in
Dumfries on Jan. 12.
both Iraheta and a murdered 15-year-old, Damaris “Alexandria” Rivas, whose
remains were found at an industrial park in Springfield Feb. 11, were involved
in gang activity.
four adults and six juveniles, they believe to be involved in the murder of Reyes
Rivas. Detectives believe the teen was held against her will, taken to Lake
Accotink Park, and assaulted before she was killed and left nearby in the 7100
block of Wimsatt Road on or around Jan. 8. Her body was found Feb.
11. Nine suspects are in custody and
have been charged with abduction and gang participation. Additional charges are expected.
