Most Annandale reps in the House of Delegates running unopposed
Most of the House of Delegates members representing Annandale area voters are, at this point, unopposed in the upcoming elections.
Del. Kaye Kory, a Democrat who represents the 38th District, which covers the bulk of Annandale, does not have a Republican opponent. Incumbents Vivian Watts in the 39th and James Scott in the 53rd districts, both Democrats, are also unopposed.
Due to redistricting, several precincts in the Mason District would switch from the 38th to the 39th or vice versa. The 53rd District includes a small part of the Mason District in the Falls Church area.
In the 37th District, which lies just outside Annandale to the west and south, the Fairfax County Republican Committee has endorsed Brian Scheoneman to run against Democratic Del. David Bulova.
Scheoneman is a lobbyist for the Seafarers International Union of North America and was a speechwriter for Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao in the Bush Administration. He founded the conservative blog Common Sense and contributes to the Bearing Drift blog, which calls itself “Virginia’s Conservative Voice.”
The 49th District is an open seat, due to Del. Adam Ebbin’s run for the state Senate. Two Democrats are vying for the spot, Stephanie Clifford and Alphonso Lopez, and will face off in a primary on Aug. 23. No Republicans have filed for that seat yet.
This district most lies in Arlington, but includes a small portion of the Mason District in the Bailey’s Crossroads area.
