MQR Cafe opens in Barcroft Plaza

A new casual dining spot on Columbia Pike.

The new MQR Café in Barcroft Plaza serves breakfast, sandwiches, and coffee drinks all day.

The café opened on July 6 at 6343-E Columbia Pike. Much of the food features Mediterranean/Middle Eastern flavors.

Examples of menu items include bagels, mascarpone toast, labneh toast, burgers, salads; chia pudding with berries, and chicken shawarma, harissa egg, chili chicken, and bacon avocado sandwiches.

In addition to regular coffee drinks, MQR offers iced pistachio latte with cold foam and cardamom latte.

MRQ stands for Maqur, a city in Afghanistan. It’s open daily 7 a.m.-9 p.m.

  1. We have such a wonderful variety of restaurants right in our neighborhood and this sounds like a great addition.

  2. Also pictured in the first photo are the VIPs who parallel park on the yellow curb so they can run into Zips and pick up their dry cleaning. Nobody cares to do anything about it so people will continue to be selfish and do this.

      1. Wrong. Yellow curb is for a commercial loading zone and/or a fire lane. It’s not for people who are too lazy to park in a normal spot and make the arduous trek to Zips to pick up their dry cleaning.

    1. On the brick column right in front of MQR Cafe is a sign that says “No Parking or Standing FIRE LANE” Not sure how much plainer it needs to be. If I could upload the photo, I would.
