Music fills the air at local parks

The Pietasters performed at the Mason District Park Amphitheater on July 17.

There are just a few more weeks left in the Spotlight by Starlight concert series.

There are free shows at Mason District Park three nights a week and international performances at Ossian Hall Park in Annandale on Saturday evenings through the third week of August. All shows start at 7:30 p.m.

Here’s the lineup for the rest of July:

Mason District Park

July 20 – Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer (American roots).
July 22 – Karen Collins & the Backroads Band (honkytonk country).
July 24 – Flamenco Aparicio Dance Company.
July 27 – Soul Crackers (Motown, soul).
July 29 – Sharon North (jazz).
July 31 – The Apple Core (Beatles tribute band).

Ossian Hall Park:

July 23 – Togolese Cultural Heritage Night, featuring Dogo du Togo.
July 30 – Bulgarian Cultural Heritage Night: Lyuti Chushki.

There are also free children’s shows at 10 a.m. on Saturdays:

July 23 – Mr. Lilo (children’s songs), Mason District Park.
July 23 – The Great Zucchini, (children’s comedy, magic), Wakefield Park.
July 30 – Marsha and the Positrons (children’s songs), Mason District Park.
