New dining options under consideration for Columbia Pike

Botanica Pombagira, the small shop at 7025 Columbia Pike, Annandale, that sold candles,
incense, and religious items, has closed. A representative
of the owners said they are moving to Maryland where the rents are lower. That
shop opened just under a year ago in a building that formerly housed Anna ’N Dales Newsstand.

Other tenants on that propertyLisa the psychic, who was based in a small annex next to the main building, and George’s Small Engine Repair, which operated in the backyardhave already closed. No one was evicted, says the owner, Adnan
Ashkar.

Ashkar is planning to demolish those buildings and put up a small
shopping center on the property with two food-related businesses, such as an
ice cream or coffee shop and a casual restaurant that’s part of a national
chain.

In the meantime, he’s looking for short-term tenants for the
next year and a-half or so until he’s ready to redevelop. If you’re interested,
call 571-269-6151.

I have photos of the Condemnation Notices posted by the FXCO and FCFD citing the bldgs violations and being unfit for use or occupancy. That's hardly an invitation to stay and close enough to an eviction for any SlumLord. It's cheap development projects like his proposal that prevent the Annandale CBD from developing into a cohesive walkable community. BTW, Annandale doesn't need another fast food chain restaurant or psychic -especially if they can't fortell the demise of their business….

  2. OMG DO NOT MOVE TO MARYLAND, I live here and they will tax the shit out of you. Stay clear! Support your 2nd rights!

Not another fro-yo shop! Don't we have enough of those dotting the landscape? Surely that fad has passed or is starting to. And what assurance does he have that a national chain (or franchisee) will want to locate there?

Why the heck isn't our beloved County Supervisor working harder to get a decent business into the old Bloom location?? When is Annandale going to get its own revitalization committee? Until that happens, Annandale will just become Payday Lender Central.

  4. beloved supervisor!!??? are you kidding… Annandale has gone to the slums since she has been our supervisor. Your are kidding, right? Just checking…
