New principal named for Sleepy Hollow Elementary School

Mattie Fallen, the assistant principal at Braddock Elementary School in Annandale, has been named the new principal of Sleepy Hollow Elementary School, Region 2 of Fairfax County Public Schools announced on Twitter July 2.
Fallen will succeed Sleepy Hollow Interim Principal Maureen Lopez.
“Fallen’s wealth of experiences, knowledge, and skills make her a great new leader for this wonderful school community,” Region 2 tweeted.
Fallen is “a professional storyteller and enjoys reading and writing,” her bio on the Braddock ES website states. “She has a passion for life, love, literacy, and history. She believes that, ‘In order to get where you are going, you need to first know where you are. To know where you are, you need to know from whence you’ve come.’”
A former teacher and reading specialist, Fallen has been employed by FCPS since 1997 and has worked at Kings Glen, Fort Belvoir, Brookfield, and Bull Run elementary schools.
She received her elementary education endorsement from Cameron University in Oklahoma; earned a bachelor’s degree in business education, a master’s degree in education, and education specialist degree in administration and supervision from Virginia Tech. She is pursing a doctoral degree in educational leadership and policy studies from Virginia Tech.
