New ramen restaurant coming to Annandale

Kimen Ramen & Izakaya, a Japanese ramen restaurant and
bar, is opening at 4217 John Marr Drive, Annandale, within the next couple of weeks or so.

The interior features dark wood paneling.
It’s in the spot formerly occupied by a Korean bakery and is next
to Pelicana Chicken in the same building that houses The Block and the
soon-to-be-developed Kmart site.
The owner, Tae Kim, hasn’t finalized the menu yet, but is
planning to offer several kinds of ramen – miso, spicy, shoyun (soy sauce based), and original – with beef or pork broth.

Other possible menu items include takoyagi (a ball-shaped
snack with octopus) and kyoza (dumplings). There will be several types of sake plus Japanese beers and cocktails.
The chef, Kim’s brother-in-law, studied ramen cooking
in Japan. “I love ramen,” says Kim, a resident of Annandale. “You have
to travel far from here to get decent ramen.”
