New restaurant opens in Bailey’s Crossroads
A small restaurant that opened March 2 in Bailey’s Crossroads offers a mix of Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken and Middle Eastern fare.
Oozie Café & Restaurant is on Columbia Pike, in front of Duccini’s Pizza, which is at 3420 Carlyn Hill Drive. Both restaurants are owned by Ali Zamzame, who also owns a Duccini’s on U Street in D.C.
The menu at Oozie includes shawarma (chicken, beef, or lamb), falafel, rice bowls, wraps, salads, hummus, yuca, all-day breakfast, various coffees, and desserts, as well as quarter, half, and whole chickens.
The site used to be check-cashing place. Zamzame says that before he opened Duccini’s a couple of years ago, “this area used to be a mess, with drug dealers hanging around. We really cleaned it up.”
Oozie chicken. I'm not sure it's the most appetizing name.
Tried it recently. Nice and clean and brand new.
The taste is pretty good.
