New restaurant will offer a taste of Nepal

A new restaurant called Spice Circle is expected to open in Barcroft Plaza by the end of the year or in early 2022.

It’s at 6347A Columbia Pike – between Expedia Cruises and Paak Bazar – in a space formerly occupied by Curry N Tandoori.

The menu offers several Nepali dishes along with such standards as tacos, flatbreads, Maryland crab cakes, lobster rolls, wings, and Atlantic salmon.

Everything is made with fresh ingredients and spices, says owner Deepak Pandey, who is originally from Nepal. Some dishes are gluten free and dairy free.

The Nepali items include chicken momo (dumplings), chicken choila (marinated with ginger and garlic), and aloo tama bodi ko tarkari (sauteed bamboo shoots, black-eyed peas, and potato with a lemongrass and cilantro emulsion.

  1. Parisian, American and Nepali? I'm sure Gordon Ramsey would raise an eyebrow. Why not stick to one thing (Nepali) and do that really well? We love Namaste in Springfield but never want to drive over there.

  2. Agreed, stick to your specialty, other things will detract on what your food may be good at and people won't trust it.
