New salon opens in Annandale

Annandale’s got a new hair salon. Hayadi Salon was opened in
late December at 4530 John Marr Drive by Daphne and Zaid Bakeer. The salon, in a
former dentist’s office in the John Marr Professional Building, does haircuts,
color, highlights, and styling for men and woman.

Zaid, the stylist, met Daphne, the manager, when they both
worked at the Jon David Salon in Springfield and Arlington. They were married
in 2010.

Hayadi Salon specializes in natural products, says Zaid, who
immigrated to the United States from Jordan when he was 9. He father was an
airline pilot, and the family lived in Japan and Hawaii before settling in
Northern Virgina.

“We want to move away from a chemical experience,” Zaid
says. That’s why they decided to sell their own line of shampoos, conditioners,
hairspray, gel, and other natural-based products. Hayadi means “gifts” in
Arabic, he says.
