A new turf field for Pine Ridge Park

A new synthetic turf field is being installed at Pine Ridge Park in Annandale. Field #6 will be striped for five sports: football, soccer, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, and field hockey. The field is closed all summer and is expected to reopen when the work is completed in early September, the Fairfax County Park Authority reports.
The contractor, FieldTurf USA Inc., is also widening the field so it can be used as two fields for junior soccer side play. In addition, the work will include improvements to storm drainage, goal posts, fencing, bleacher and bench pads, and parking for people with disabilities.
Funding for the project, which is estimated to cost $930,000, was included in a park bond approved by voters in 2012. Construction access to the site will be from the main park entrance on Woodburn Road.
I think those fields need more research before they allow kids to play on them. Possible link to cancer from the crumb rubber.

Any room for the homeless shelter on this field?
