New Virginia grant program to help small businesses struggling during the pandemic

| Restaurants that had to ban indoor dining due to the pandemic might want to consider applying for a new state grant program. |
A new state program, Rebuild VA, offers $70 million to help small businesses stay in operation as the coronavirus pandemic rages on.
The application period opens Aug. 10.
Business owners can apply for grants of up to three times their average monthly eligible expenses for a maximum of $10,000.
Eligible businesses must be in good standing, have annual gross revenues of no more than $1.5 million, and have no more than 25 employees who live in Virginia.
The program is restricted to businesses that have not received federal Paycheck Protection Program or Economic Injury Disaster Loan funds or other funding from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
The program is available to businesses and nonprofits involved with food and beverages, non-essential brick-and-mortar retail, exercise and fitness, entertainment, personal care and grooming services, and private campground and overnight summer camps.
The grants can be used for
- Employee salaries.
- Payroll support, including paid sick, medical, or family leave, and costs related to the continuation of group health care benefits during those periods of leave.
- Mortgage payments, rent, and utilities.
- Principal and interest payments for business loans from banks, savings and loan institutions, or credit unions that were incurred before or during the pandemic.
- Eligible personal protective equipment, cleaning and disinfecting materials, or other working capital needed to address the COVID-19 response.
Rebuild VA is expected to assist 7,000 businesses and nonprofits. Half of the funds will be distributed to eligible small businesses and nonprofits operating in low-income and economically disadvantaged communities. The program is administered by the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity.

Any small business that enforces unconstitutional mask rules deserves to go out of business.

The mask rule is an order issued by the governor, idiot. Don't like it? Too damn bad. BTW, I hate people like you.
If by "unconstitutional", you're referring to first amendment rights, there are established limits for public health and safety. That's why you can't falsely yell "FIRE!" in a crowded theater. Issuing a mask order to protect lives is well within the Constitution.
Herman Cain had a compromised immune system as a result of chemotherapy for stage-four cancer. People with compromised immune systems die of things like pneumonia. "Covid-19" tests have high false positive rates, so the claim that he had "covid-19" doesn't really mean anything.
The governor's mask order is unconstitutional. It violates the Republican guarantee clause of the US constitution. Governors are not allowed to be dictators.
Once again, people who claim constitutional rights, actually haven't read the Constitution.

Misinterpretation of the constitution aside, what exactly is the big deal with putting a mask on? Politicizing a public health requirement is exactly the kind of divisive bullshit that’s tearing this country apart. People should be willing to try anything that even just might help stem the growth of the virus. Instead a bunch of lunatics are running around screaming about “muh rats as a murican!”
The "Republican Guarantee Clause" is a constitutional right to be stupid and remain that way. Its guaranteed!
As some before me have said, this issue with masks is so exaggerated. No one complains when business require shirts or pants, or shoes. Also, if you do not like it, then don't go to those places, or order online/phone and do curb pick up. It is already tough enough situation, why make it even harsher.
