New Year’s Eve events scheduled for Annandale area

If you’re up for partying on New Year’s Eve but don’t want to drive into D.C., there are plenty of fun things to do right here in the Annandale area.

In fact you don’t even have to wait for Dec. 31. A “Pre-New Year’s Eve Party” will take place Wed., Dec. 30, at the Camino Boutique Lounge, 669 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, featuring a “Taste of the Tropics” Caribbean and Polynesian dance show.

A Polynesian Luau Show, with dancers from Tahiti, New Zealand, and Hawaii, starts at 8:30 p.m. A Latin Caribbean Dance Show, scheduled to start about 9:30, features performers from the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Trinidad, and Brazil doing such dances as the samba, meringue, salsa, and cha cha. There will be a costume contest at 10:30 for those dressing up in Polynesian or Afro-Caribbean outfits. The cover charge is $12 in advance ($15 at the door), and food and drinks are extra. You must be 21. Advance registrations are recommended.

Also in Annandale, the Cue Club, at 7014 Columbia Pike, is planning karaoke or a DJ and free champagne toasts at midnight on New Year’s Eve. There is no cover charge. The New Year’s Eve show at the Sunset Grille, 7250 Columbia Pike, features Mike Cotter and the All Star Band.

A bit farther away, the Dogfish Head Alehouse, 6220 Leesburg Pike in Seven Corners, will have a DJ and champagne toast and will stay open until 1 a.m. on Dec. 31. Velocity Five in Merrifield (at the corner of Gallows Road and Lee Highway) is having a dress-up New Year’s Eve party with DJ Incredible playing the top hits from 2010. You can buy tickets in advance or at the door for $35, which includes hors d’oeuvres, party favors, and a midnight toast.
