The Annandale campus of Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) will offer a new Fridays-only degree program “for students who are seeking a flexible and convenient option toward achieving an associate degree,” the college announced June 24.
The new program “is designed for students who have work or family obligations and need flexibility,” said Barbara Saperstone, provost of the Annandale campus. Having more students attend classes on Fridays is also expected to reduce the number of students on campus during the rest of the week, thus relieving traffic and parking problems for people who live along Wakefield Chapel Road and side streets.
The Fridays-only program will begin in August. It includes a combination of in-person, online, and hybrid courses through NOVA’s Extended Learning Institute. All in-person classes are held on Fridays and cover the same course material as regular semester classes. The program will meet all of the graduation requirements for the associate of science degree in general studies, and the tuition and fees are the same as NOVA’s regular tuition.
Registration for the fall semester is under way. If you’re interested in the Fridays-only degree program, contact Marc Robinson, 703/425-5260. For more information, visit NOVA’s weekend studies website.
