Ohio man faces sentencing for murder of Annandale woman

Danny Kim, a home renovator, pleaded guilty Nov. 9 to the July 2009 murder of Annandale acupuncturist Chung A. Auh in Fairfax County Circuit Court, the Washington Post reported.

Auh, 53, had operated a holistic healing business in her home at 4119 on Hummer Road, next to Yechon restaurant. The murder had shocked the community. She had been found by a customer tied up with her throat slashed. DNA found on the scene linked the crime to Kim, 49, a former resident of Springfield who had moved to Dublin, Ohio.

According to news reports, Kim learned that Auh had a safe full of cash while he was working on her home. He and his brother drove from Ohio to Annandale to get the money. Prosecutors argued in court that they beat and killed Auh after she refused to give them the combination to the safe, which contained $140,000.

Kim pleaded guilty to two counts of capital murder to avoid a trial and possible death sentence, the Post states. Sentencing is set for Dec. 16.
