Park Authority hiring summer camp leaders
The Fairfax County Park Authority is hiring people for full-time jobs in its Rec-PAC summer camp program.
The program seeks “creative, high-energy, motivated” candidates to serve as site directors, camp leaders, and inclusion leaders.
Pay ranges from $16.87 to $23.75 an hour depending on experience, education, and certifications. All summer employees will be offered a $500 signing bonus.
Rec-PAC (Pretty Awesome Children) is a six-week structured recreation program for kids in grades 1-6. Activities include indoor and outdoor games, team sports, nature, crafts, storytelling, talent shows, and supervised play. The 2024 session is June 24-Aug. 1. Mason District locations include Annandale Terrace, Woodburn, and Bren Mar Park elementary schools.
The Park Authority is hosting open-hire events where job seekers can learn about Rec-PAC employment opportunities, be interviewed, and potentially receive an offer on the spot. The following sessions will be at the Herrity Building, 12055 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, on the following dates.
- Wednesday, March 6, 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, March 13, 1 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, May 8, 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
- Friday, May 31, 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
- Monday, June 3, 4 p.m.- 6:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, June 5, 1 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
There will also be a virtual Rec-PAC hiring session on Feb. 21, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Teens at least 14 years old can apply to be nonpaid Rec-PAC counselors in training. The deadline to apply is June 14. Registration for campers opens March 12.
