Parklawn has a new principal

Forgy [FCPS]

Rebecca Forgy was named principal of Parklawn Elementary School in Lincolnia, effective July 24, Fairfax County Public Schools announced Aug. 17.

Forgy was formerly at Dogwood Elementary School in Reston, where she had been an assistant principal since 2012 and, before that, an instructional coach.

At Dogwood, Forgy helped establish a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) program and project-based learning through instruction and enrichment opportunities. She also directed the Realizing the American Dream program, which offers classes for parents and helps foster college readiness for students.

Forgy earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education at the State University of New York at Genesee and a master’s degree in special education at Western Connecticut State University. She received her administrative endorsement from the University of Virginia.

In other school news, FCPS announced Woodson High School Principal Scott Poole is moving on to become principal at Chantilly High School, effective Oct. 2.
