Parklawn outraged over stolen plants

It’s a sad state of affairs when community volunteers work hard to make their neighborhood more attractive, and someone steals the rosebushes they planted.

Sometime during June 7, someone came and dug out 10 rosebushes in the common area at the main entrance to the Parklawn community at the corner of Columbia Pike and Braddock Road.

“The community is outraged. These plants were paid for by donations and planted last fall by volunteers to beautify our community,” says Civic Association President Mollie Loeffler. “We believe the theft occurred at night, and they may have been interrupted, since two of the plants that were dug up were left next to the holes.”

The theft happened just a couple of days after Parklawn residents spent hours planting trees in Glasgow Park.

Anyone who might have seen the theft is asked to call 703/508-8320 or the Mason District Police Station, 703/256-8035.

  1. There is no way that some critter took these rather large plants. Now I put in plants that I won't be so devastated if they are taken.
