Parks will open this weekend on a very limited basis

The Fairfax County Park Authority is opening parks for the Memorial Day weekend, but most park facilities will remain closed.
Park staff will be clearing barricades and opening parking lots at all 427 parks in the county May 20-22.
Park visitors are asked to avoid groups of more than 10 people and adhere to the physical distancing guidelines in place to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Park restrooms, playgrounds, dog parks, nature center, visitor centers, horticultural centers, RECenters, athletic fields, and volleyball and basketball courts will remain closed. Water fountains are turned off.

With the massive crowds at the parks, have they ever really been closed? Pick up soccer, frisbee and football games; teenagers hanging out; people have picnics and gatherings, and the trails clogged with people milling around — they never were closed and certaintly were not just being used for exercise. Can't wait for all the creeks and watering holes to be filled with swimmers, the water is already polluted enough.
Parks I’ve been to in and around mason and providence haven’t been like this. Sure, maybe a handful of people playing frisbee or kicking a ball around but nothing approaching a crowd, or even 10 people.
I haven't seen any pick up games, maybe a dad and kid kicking a ball around, but that's about it. Which park are you seeing that much activity in?

Literally just the parking lots. My guess is they acknowledged the hazard of people parking in the roads and everywhere else then just walking in was not helping anyone.
Greensprings and the pinecrest trails get pretty crowded on the weekends and late afternoons. No one has any place to go. If people would stay to one side and walk instead of just hanging out it would be fine. I have seen pick up games at some of the schools (basketball and soccer) where they cut the twist ties off and removed the signes.
