Pedestrian in Woodburn Road crash dies

A 76-year-old man died yesterday at Inova Fairfax Hospital as a result of injuries he sustained after being hit by a car Saturday, May 22, as he was attempting to walk across Woodburn Road near the intersection of Gallows Road shortly after 9 p.m., Mason District police report. Glenn Melton, of 3318 Woodburn Village Drive, was struck by a 1997 Ford Escort, driven by a 20-year-old man, heading eastbound on Woodburn Road. Melton was not in the crosswalk. According to the police, “speed and alcohol were not believed to be factors contributing to the crash.”
