Pedestrian killed in Bailey’s Crossroads

Mohammed Ishaq, 66, or Alexandria, died after he was struck by a car around 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday near the intersection of Leesburg Pike and Payne Street in Bailey’s Crossroads.

A 2008 Mazda 3 was traveling eastbound and hit Ishaq, who was not in a crosswalk. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Neither speed nor alcohol were factors.

Ishaq was from Bangladesh and spent a lot of time visiting a friend on Washington Drive, says a neighbor, who adds, He very friendly, although I dont think he spoke much English, if at all.

  1. This happens way too often in Bailey's area. Better and may be additional pedestrian crossings are needed.
