Pedestrian killed on Graham Road
A pedestrian was fatally struck while trying to cross Graham Road near Arlington Boulevard at about 10:18 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, the Fairfax County Police Department reports. The victim, a 53-year-old man, was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
He had been in the crosswalk with another man when he was struck by a 2006 Ford F250 pickup truck traveling southbound on Graham Road. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.
The driver remained on the scene, according to the police, and neither speed no alcohol appear to be factors in the accident. The FCPS hasn’t determined whether charges will be filed against the driver.
UPDATE: The deceased pedestrian has been identified as Gerber Mauricio Claros, 53, of Falls Church, the FCPD announced June 13. The events leading up to the crash are still being investigated.
This is terrible and my condolences to the family.
You can blame the murderous leadership of the BoS and VDOT. Fairfax is a deathtrap for pedestrians and cyclists. However the BoS is too busy counting meal tax receipts to pay for their next raise to care about public safety.
