A pedestrian was struck and killed last night while trying
to cross Leesburg Pike in front of the Crossroads Shopping Center in Bailey’s Crossroads.
to cross Leesburg Pike in front of the Crossroads Shopping Center in Bailey’s Crossroads.
The victim, Abdullah K. Sheikh, 36, of no fixed
address, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing dark
clothing and was headed south and not in a crosswalk, says Fairfax County Police Department spokesperson Lucy Caldwell.
The driver, a 30-year-old man from Columbia, Md., in a 2015
Toyota Corolla, was determined to be not intoxicated and was not charged. He had been in the
center lane heading east.
An Annandale Blog reader who was driving by shortly after
the accident, reporting seeing “a person, not moving, sprawled out, and not
being tende to.”

Question. Did the Annandale Blog reader who drove by the accident scene stop to tend to the victim of this accident or at least call 911 to inform emergency services of this situation?
If not, what is the point of this person reporting the victim was not being tended to at the time this person drove by?
By posting this information is the Annandale Blog impling Fairfax County emergency responders were not doing their jobs because the victim had "no fixed address"?
If not, what is the Annandale Blog's takeaway from a report from a reader that they drove by the accident scene and saw the person spread out in the street "not being tended to."
No, I will explain it because I was the person who saw it. What I meant was that the person was already dead, The police were there and were not tending to him because he was already dead, not because they left him to die. And they were already there (at least 4 cars when I went by), so there was no need to call 911.
But I appreciate you jumping to conclusions and making me out to be a sociopath.
wow, 10:14am anonymous needs a jump to conclusions mat
Hi, the guy who was hit was my brother. My family would like to know more about the accident. If you witnessed the whole accident please tell me more.
Thanks
Maybe just left the part of where the passerby called 911 out of her narrative.
Not being tended to could just mean that they were the first person to come across the situation after the driver who struck the pedestrian.
Driver from Maryland….LOL. So much for that crackdown on out-of-state plates. Great job, FCPD.
No need to call the police as they were already there when I arrived and informed Ellie of what I saw. I meant that I knew he was dead because they did not tend to him when I was there, not because they left him to die, but because you cannot tend to a dead person.
Got it…I've only once in my life been witness to an accident before police/fire/emt were there, and it isn't pretty. I thought it might have been like that. Of course 911 was called, in your case and mine.
I did not know they changed the law in Va to only allow Va drivers to drive in Va. Thanks for the update Anon 10:48
Another tragedy. With all due respect to FCPD, they need to start issuing tickets to pedestrians who cross the street illegally or walk in the street when there are sidewalks otherwise available. This behavior will only change when it starts biting people in their wallets.
totally agree! It's very frustrating as a driver to know if I hit a pedestrian not in a crosswalk that I have to live with that whether they live or die. Pedestrians should follow the rules as well as drivers! I'm sorry he was hit and killed and I'm sure the driver of the car is as well!
People always be playing human Frogger on these streets.
