Pennino Building closed until further notice

Fairfax County’s Pennino Building remains closed since it was damaged by flooding caused by a water leak on Feb. 6.
The building, at 12011 Government Center Parkway in Fairfax, will remain closed until further notice, according to Fairfax County’s emergency blog. Walk-in services are unavailable.
The county urges people who need to drop off documents at the Department of Family Services to put them in a secure drop box outside DFS offices, including the Heritage Center at 7611 Little River Turnpike in Annandale.
DFS services are also available online or by phone.
Some Neighborhood and Community Services programs have temporarily relocated to the Herrity Building at 12055 Government Center Parkway next to the Pennino Building. That includes these services, available Monday-Friday, 8 a.m- 4 p.m.: Child Care Assistance and Referral, Community Education and Provider Services, Head Start, and School Age Child Care payments and registration.
“Residents are strongly encouraged to avoid visiting the Pennino Building,” Fairfax County states. “But for those who arrive and need assistance, the county’s CareVan is stationed on the premises to provide limited services.” The CareVan is a 37-foot mobile service vehicle that delivers integrated health, housing, and human services to communities.
