Pinecrest Plaza is getting a makeover

The new vision for Pinecrest Plaza. [Edens]

The Lidl grocery store at Pinecrest Plaza is expected to open in summer 2020, reports a spokesperson for Edens, the real estate company that owns the shopping center.

Edens is also renovating Pinecrest Plaza. Improvements will include new facades, new LED lighting, wider sidewalks, and a new parking lot layout with more spaces and better flow. The center will have a more sustainable “cool roof” made of a white reflective material that will absorb less heat in the summer.

The company is in negotiations with restaurants and stores to fill the three vacancies at Pinecrest Plaza but declined to disclose the new tenants until leases are signed.

The space occupied by Lidl was previously a Staples. Before that, it was a Whole Foods grocery store.

    1. Correct. It was wonderful having it at Pinecrest, it was always packed but the footprint and the parking were inadequate to support its growth. Unfortunately the backfill of lesser rate grocers has been disappointing. Im glad we have Harris Teeter and Trader Joes but I really miss Whole Foods. I dont think the demographics and the economics or Mason fits their business model any longer. So when I must go to a WF, I take my business to old town WF, just takes too long in traffic.

    2. To the BLOG. I have the latest Safari software but your software is not meshing, I have to use Google now to post a comment.

    1. Lidl is a supermarket chain out of Germany — it's US office is in Arlington. I really like shopping at the few Lidl stores in our region. They are similar to Aldi but somewhat bigger. Think of Lidl as an Aldi on steroids.

I will definitely be shopping at this Lidl once it opens.
