Planet Fitness moving to new spot in Seven Corners

The Planet Fitness on Wilson Boulevard at the Eden Center is moving nearby to the former Gold’s Gym spot at 6270 Arlington Blvd. in Seven Corners.

The new gym should open in  late October or early November, says co-owner Dave Weber.
“We try to update our clubs regularly,” Weber says. The Planet Fitness at the Eden Center opened in 2006 and was getting to the point when it needed a renovation. “It’s easier for us to completely build a new place.”
The new gym will be in a much more visible location and will have more daylight. “It’s a really good opportunity for us to give our members a brand-new, bright, up-to-current specs club,” Weber says. It will have more amenities, such as hydromassage beds, tanning beds, and Beauty Angel red-light therapy booths.
Planet Fitness offers a $10-a-month no-commitment membership that includes free help in designing a fitness training routine. A Black Card membership,at  $22 a month, allows access to any Planet Fitness in the U.S., allows members to bring a guest for free, and includes half-price drinks and other discounts.
Before COVID, Planet Fitness was open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
It’s now open five days a week and closes at 10 p.m. for deep cleaning. Patrons are asked to wear face masks. Some treadmills and other equipment are off limits due to the need for social distancing.
Capacity is now limited to 75 percent of allowed occupancy. No one is turned away, though. Weber says the gym is now at only about 45 to 50 percent because “people at risk feel better staying at home.”
