Planet Fitness reopens in new location in Seven Corners
Planet Fitness reopened in a new location in Seven Corners Nov. 1 with all new equipment.
The gym moved from the Eden Center into a spot formerly occupied by Gold’s Gym in the shopping center between Arlington Boulevard and Wilson Boulevard. Gold’s closed in March.
Planet Fitness is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, says manager Erick Pierola.
The gym’s cardio equipment includes treadmills, Stairmasters, ellipticals, arc trainers for core resistance, stationary bikes, hand-pedaling bikes, and rowing machines.
There’s also a stretching area with a 30-minute circuit station; an area with machines for full-body strength training; a cross fit area; a TRX system with stabilizing bands for resistance training; machines focusing on quads, glutes, and other body parts; and free weights up to 75 pounds with electronic counters.
A spa area has hybrid tanning beds with red light therapy, a heated water-based hydro-massage bed, and massage chairs.
To protect members during the COVID-19, some of the machines are blocked off so patrons are spaced six feet apart, and masks are required except when people are at an exercise station. The gym is restricted to 75 percent capacity. Classes have been suspended but are expected to resume after the pandemic.
The new Planet Fitness is currently running a couple of membership specials, Pierola says.
One promotion offers $10 a month with a $39 annual fee for $1 down and a 12-month commitment.
The Black Card membership deal costs $22.99 a month plus a $39 annual fee with no commitment. Black Card members can use any Planet Fitness gym nationwide and can bring a guest for no charge.
Those promotions are in effect through the end of the year. The membership rates after that haven’t been determined.
