Police bring holiday gifts to kids in Culmore
Hundreds of kids at Culmore and Fairmont Gardens collected free holiday gifts donated by community members on Dec. 16 during the Mason Police District’s annual Gary Claus program.
The event continued on Dec. 17 when the police distributed donated pajamas and socks at both locations.
Gary Claus is named for Det. Gary Moore, who has appeared as Santa Claus since 2016.
At the Culmore event in Bailey’s Crossroads, the gifts were handed out by police officers from the Mason Police Station, Police Chief Kevin Davis, and students from the Criminal Justice Academy.
Every child got to select a stuffed animal and a wrapped gift. Police officers and volunteers wrapped the gifts during the past couple of weeks.
The children and their families were also treated to hot chocolate and cookies.
At the Fairmont Gardens event in Annandale, community leaders made hot chocolate and gave out cookies, croissants, and a small gift for parents. Funding was provided by Anthem Healthkeepers
Thank you to our wonderful men and women in blue (and red and white)!
