Officers from the Mason Police District arrested a man for possession of a concealed weapon on county property in Bailey’s Crossroads, the FCPD reports.

On Jan. 22, shortly before 8 p.m., officers responded to the Bailey’s Shelter at 5914 Seminary Road for a weapon violation. The victim reported that a man pointed a firearm at him. The victim was not injured.

Officers searched the area and located Delointia Burchett, 26, of no fixed address, matching the description. Burchett, a convicted felon, was in possession of a loaded Taurus pistol.

Burchett was taken into custody and charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a weapon on county property, and possession of a stolen credit card.

He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was held without bond. The FCPD says a mugshot isn’t available.

The police department says this case highlights the success of Operation Press Check, an initiative aimed at reducing illegal firearm possession by convicted felons.
