Police investigating homicide/suicide at Skyline Towers
scene technicians and homicide detectives from the Fairfax County Police
Department are investigating an apparent murder/suicide at the Skyline Towers
apartment complex in Bailey’s Crossroads, according to a report from the Mason Police District.
Someone
called the police saying shots had been fired. Police responded to the scene
shortly before 10 a.m. today and found two deceased persons, one male and one
female. “The
initial investigation has led detectives to believe that this was a
murder/suicide and was possibly domestic in nature,” states a news release.
Update:
The police have identified the deceased as Lakshmi
Bhat, female, 62 years old, of North Carolina, and Anand Venkata, male, 36
years old, of 5597 Seminary Road, according to a June 18 bulletin from the
Mason Police District.
The investigation
revealed that this was a domestic situation and that Venkata shot and killed
Bhat, his mother-in-law, and then shot and killed himself. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will make final determination as to cause and manner of
death.
