Police manhunt in Annandale involved thefts of three Teslas and an SUV

A manhunt in the Camelot and Mill Creek neighborhoods in Annandale in the early hours of May 1 disrupted residents’ sleep as police searched for suspects involved in auto thefts.

The incident started when police stopped to check on three Tesla sedans and a Mitsubishi SUV stopped in the road at Gosnell Road and Leesburg Pike in Tysons shortly before 3 a.m., the Fairfax County Police Department reports. Two of the Teslas and the SUV sped away, leaving one unoccupied Tesla behind.

Police pursued the SUV, lost sight of it, then found it abandoned in the 8200 block of Little River Turnpike near Woodlark Drive in Annandale. The other sedan crashed into a concrete barrier near Leesburg Pike and the beltway, and the driver ran away.

All three Teslas and the Mitsubishi were reported stolen. There’s a Tesla dealership near where the cars were stopped, at 8500 Tyco Road.

The police helicopter assisted in the search for the suspects. One man was taken into custody, the FCPD states; charges are pending further investigation.
