A resident reported seeing a police helicopter circling
the neighborhood, K-9 units on the ground, and police cars at each entrance. The Pinecrest is located in Mason District between Little River Turnpike, Braddock Road, Old Columbia Pike, and the Pinecrest Golf Course.

This seems like an excessive amount of police response.
Could it be because one of the Fairfax County Planning Commissioners lives in this neighborhood?
Would this same level of police response occur in a neighborhood in which a County official did not live?
They should arrest these SOB and send them to ISIL, where they will get what they deserve. And for those liberals who think this all about bias, get real. This is about lacked government allowing a civil community to be hijacked by chaos, criminals and illegals.
Just for the record, your comment is needlessly inflammatory. No law-abiding citizen is accepting of crime, but to go off the deep end whenever a criminal act, in this case an attempted burglary, takes place does not help.
Well then return them to your house and have a party…..and watch your civil liberties vanish.
No, I will return them to your house to teach you some manners.
I hope they break into your house next, maybe that will kick start your brains.
Grow up "return to sender." Posting idiotic inflammatory comments on a blog does not make you tough on crime. For all I know you are a middle-aged man still living with your Mother in her basement who doesn't even make his own bed and only showers on occassion.
My brain works just fine. What do you do to stop crime other than posting childish comments on a blog? You know the saying talk softly and carry a big stick? No? I didn't think so.
What's particularly upsetting is that this neighborhood has such a strong Neighborhood Watch.
And to think…they couldn't even catch the burglar.
What is this world coming to?
Only if it was an opportunity for the SWAT team to kill another innocent citizen and get away with it.
RIP Mr Geer and Ms Mckenna…

Excessive police response? Burglary is a serious crime and challenging cases to solve. Catching the attempted burglars could have helped solve many other open cases. And you really think the police know where members of the planning commission live, or care? They got the 911 call, were dispatched and responded within five minutes.
Excellent response "2/19/15 7:16 AM" but don't expect reality based responses such as yours to pursuade these community organizers who are intent on sowing division and anger among fellow Americans to advance their political agenda.
the county never goes after serious problems but sends swat teams to get someone who ran a red light
